How to Remove and Install a Bolt Style Hubcap



Things Needed:
3/4" Socket

This How To is for the bolt style hubcaps that might come on all years of neons.



There are some hubcaps that look light they have the bolt style, but they are actually the fitted hubcaps. There is a way to pull them off correctly but you must find the point to do so and it is not fun to find so sometime it is just easier to find an edge and starting working your way around until it comes off.

The bolt style hubcaps are the ones that can move even though they are still attached to the hubcap.



To remove them you can use the same size lug nut wrench as you would for the actual lug nuts (3/4") and start turning them until they come out far (not come off). Be careful not to keep turning because they will start becoming tight again.



As they get further out you can start turning them by hand so that you will know when it is off. After all of them are loose then you can try and pull the hubcap off. If it doesn't come off very easy then try to determine which hubcap bolt you have left to remove. Now the hubcap is removed.

Lug nuts that have thread on the outside to handle this style hubcaps.


To attach just reverse the process and when you tighten the bolts on the hubcap make sure you have them tightened by trying to pull the edge of the hubcap (around the outside of the hubcap that touchs the tire). This will make sure it doesn't move back and forth while driving.
