Green neon is Turbo2.4's before he got his rims.

--- Edited 1-24-2010 ---

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm238/neondeception/car/1997dodgeneon.jpg

This is what it looked like when I got it. Hubs and peeling paint with rust. The passenegr side fender is also dented and had rust. Since then I have sanded and primered the paint spots and removed the wing. I still need to properly plug the holes in the trunk. I also got the sport rims from Turbo2.4 and put Falken Ziex912s. Great grip in the rain.

It is a DOHC 5speed sport. I fell in love with the car the day I bought it. Was car shopping and saw it out of the corner of my eye on a lot. I told Michelle, my wife, to turn around. We went to the bank for the cash not even an hour later. After not having a neon for over two years I was just excited to have one again that I didnt really realize what I had until I got home with it. I then came to the realization that it was a DOHC sport.

As for engine upgrades I have a header, K&N filter in stock location and no power steering/AC belt. After the belt came off twice ( under heavy acceleration  ) I decided I didnt need power steering. Been a year without it now. I forget there is such a thing as power steering until every once in awhile I drive my wifes PT cruiser. Who needs power steering?!

My plans as of now are to keep it Looking somewhat stock inside and out. I have always wanted a sleeper and what better car than a purple neon? I am wanting more power. Thinking about going with medium cams, maybe a small shot of nitrous and under drive pulley kit. Eventually I want a 2.4 turbo swap, but for now I am on a strict budget. Interior is in good shape. I have a small hole in my drivers seat, headliner is starting to sag and glovebox is broken. I Installed an SRT4 shift knob that I had previously in my 2004 neon sxt, but want the stock one back in. Have a CD player and two Memphis 6.5s in the doors for a sound system. There isnt enough bass for me so I am wanting a small system. Maybe two 10s or a 12.

As Turbo2.4 noted in another post I am a penguin freak.

that's beautiful. It almost made me cry. My dad's 98 was exactly like this except it had the 14 inch wheel cover wheels. His had the AW disc brakes and his might have a had the rear sway bar but I wasn't that into cars when he owned it.

Aww man, I really am going to cry now. It's almost my dad's car. Almost. Is it a DOHC? My dad's was. And my dad's was the 5-speed. That's what I learned how to drive standard on. I love your car. Good luck with what you plan to do with it.

In the background of the picture of your car when you first bought it is moms 00. Which became my 00 after our PT was stolen by a Missouri rodent ( deer ). At first I thought it was my 00 paper beast and I got excited but then I noticed that the bumper was not missing paint. By the time I would only drive the paper beast at night on the route. If we went anywhere it was in the PT.

Ah, alright. I just saw his old hubcaps had 4 lugs on them, and most neons had the bolt on hubcaps.

I never noticed they were 4 lug hubs. They are better than most after market hubs, but the rims make the car look good.

*Upgrades - Custom 3"Cold air intake, relocated battery (Trunk), liteGlow 7 Color LED's everywhere inside, custom sound system with two 12's and speakers.
*Future plans - PLANS HAVE CHANGED! Thinking of starting in the top end, Head build with 16's, maybe even 18's, all titanium valves, springs, etc. Already got a pretty good header, straight 2.25 pipe. Maybe 2.5" pipe soon with SRT4 exhaust.

That is thanks to Chryslers design for mounting the front bumper. We need to run to the junkyard and get another set of brackets. When we do I want to write a how to on it.
Scott had to do it just the other day.

I have been driving the wifes pt cruiser (auto non turbo yuck) My car keeps eating the belts off. I am hoping to be able to get an under drive pulley to fix this. I also have a mopar ecu not yet installed. I have been busy with the baby so I haven't had time or money. More stuff will get up and running in a few months. I am looking forward to seeing what the mopar ecu will do. I want to hit 149!

I want an aftermarket PCM. I finally removed the EGR completely and I'm sure the stock pcm is going to set off the check engine light.
